St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Information
The citizenship programme as outlined by the Government is as follows:
Citizenship of Saint Christopher and Nevis is governed by Chapter VIII (Sections 90-95) of the Constitution of Saint Christopher and Nevis. In 1984 in pursuance of Section 92 (1) (h) Parliament prescribed that such other persons who would be entitled, upon making application, to be registered as citizens. Section 3 (5) of the Saint Christopher and Nevis Citizenship Act, 1984 (No. 1 of 1984) provides as follows:
Subject to subsections (8) and (9) of this section, a person is entitled, upon making application under this subsection to the Minister in the prescribed manner and upon payment of any fee that may be prescribed, to be registered as a citizen of St. Christopher and Nevis without any rights of voting save under and in accordance with the provisions of any law governing the qualification of voters, if the Cabinet is satisfied that such person has invested substantially in St. Christopher and Nevis.
The Investment requirement may be satisfied in any of the following ways:
a. a substantial investment of at least $350,000.00 United States currency or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency in an approved investment project
b. a minimum contribution into the Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation of:
i) Single applicant: US$ 200,000
ii) Applicant with up to three dependants (i.e. one spouse and two children below the age of 18): US$ 250,000
iii) Applicant with up to five dependants (i.e. one spouse and four children): US$300,000
iv) Applicant with six or more dependants: US$ 400,000
The fee for each Certificate of Registration is US$47.00 or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency. The cost of each passport is US$32.00 or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency.
The registration fees applicable will be:
a. US$35,000.00 or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency for head of household (male or female) or any other adult.
b. US$15,000.00 or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency for either spouse.
c. US$15,000.00 or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency for each child under 18 years, and
d. US$35,000.00 or its equivalent in Eastern Caribbean currency for unmarried dependant child of the applicant between the ages of 18 and 25.
Once an item of real estate has been the basis of a successful economic citizenship application, that item of real estate shall cease to be anapproved investment for any further application without prior approval of the Cabinet.
Application forms may be obtained from authorized corporate providers in St. Kitts or Nevis or lawyers practicing in St. Kitts or Nevis. Photocopies of the application forms will not be accepted.
Approved Projects for Economic Citizenship
A listing can be obtained from our office.
Documents Required are:
a. One (1) original and two (2) copies of the Application for Citizenship form
b. A photocopy of current and previous travel documents such as passports or identity cards for all those applying for citizenship
c. Birth certificates of ALL those applying for citizenship. Birth certificates of those under 18 years must be issued and sealed by the proper authorities, along with the proper English translation (if necessary.) Each birth certificate should clearly show the childs name, parents names place and date of birth. Birth certificates with unnamed children must be substantiated with other documentary evidence
d. Marriage certificate duly signed and sealed by the proper authority, if the spouse is also applying for citizenship
e. Copies of divorce or death certificate and the custody certificate of any children from a previous marriage, if the applicant (divorce or widower/widow) is including the children in his/her application
f. Medical certificates from a medical doctor confirming that the applicant and all those applying for citizenship are free of all infectious diseases, including HIV.
g. Certificate of No criminal record from the competent local or government policing authority for ALL applicants plus any other documents mentioned on page three (3) of the Applicant for Citizenship form
ALL PHOTOCOPIES OF ANY DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED MUST BE NOTARISED AND PROPERLY CERTIFIED.
a. The Applicant for Citizenship form should be completed be EACH applicant over eighteen (18) years and submitted along with the documents identified on page three of the form.
b. The Applicant for a Passport form A should be completed by EACH applicant over sixteen (16) years of age. Every applicant should place his/her specimen signature with the date on the dotted lines in Section 7, as well as on the three dotted lines at the bottom of page 3.
c. The Applicant for a Passport form B should be used for children under sixteen (16) years of age.
d. One (1) passport photograph MUST be endorsed on the reverse side by the recommender.
e. If the recommender in Section 8 of the passport application form does not reside in the Federation, then such recommender should place a seal or stamp after the signature showing his/her name. If there is no seal or stamp then he/she must submit an affidavit sworn before a notary public confirming his/her position and identity. The recommenders full name MUST be written in BLOCK CAPITALS on the line below the signature.
f. The applicant must NOT write on the back of the Application for a Passport form A
